Choose a subject

Studying GCSE Business will equip you with valuable skills that can support your study of other subjects at Sixth Form. In terms of career opportunities, a qualification in business opens the door to a variety of roles, including positions in banking, accounting, business administration, public relations, operations management, marketing, human resources, the civil service, and consultancy. Additionally, you could also choose to set up and run your own business, offering plenty of entrepreneurial opportunities.

After completing your studies at GGS Sixth Form Business School, you have a range of options to consider for further study. You can pursue a Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Business, an A-Level in Economics, or explore other A-Level subjects.

What you will Study

You will be introduced to the world of businesses and will look at what makes someone a successful business person. You will find out how to spot and opportunity and develop a business idea,and turn that into a successful business. You will understand how businesses manage money, and you will learn how the world we live in affects businesses and all the people involved. You will also learn how to grow and expand your business from a small business in Theme 1 to building this business in Theme 2.

This course has two themes

• Theme 1 - Investigating small business
• Theme 2 - Building a business

You will study a range of topics, including

• Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
• Business Finance
• Marketing
• Human Resources
• Operations Management


Assessment

The course is assessed through two exams.
• Theme 1 is worth 50%
• Theme 2 is worth 50%.
Each exam is 90 minutes each, and consists of calculations, multiple choice, short answer and essay questions. Both exams will take
place at the end of Year 11. Please note there is no coursework in GCSE Business.
