SEND
At George Green’s School we believe in our values of ‘Aspiration, Equality, Excellence’. As a school, we are committed to providing a fully inclusive education for all students and expect them to participate and achieve in all aspects of school life. Learning and teaching is at the centre of our inclusive culture.
We believe in pedagogy, not provision; Quality First Teaching is the primary intervention for students with additional needs. Teacher expertise is developed through a deep understanding of SEND pedagogy; methods are adapted to meet the needs of students and to provide rich and relevant learning opportunities.
Our conviction to ensure all students achieve their full potential is at the heart of our SEND ethos. We have a strong sense of curriculum entitlement for all learners, including those with additional needs who require specialised support. The vast majority of learners with SEND will follow the mainstream curriculum.
At George Green’s School we support students with all types of SEND from the 4 broad areas of need:
- Communication and Interaction
- Cognition and Learning
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties
- Sensory and/or Physical Needs.
We strive to provide exceptional academic and personal outcomes for those with SEND, preparing students for life as independent and engaged citizens beyond George Green’s School.
At George Green's School, we are committed to providing exceptional learning support to all students. Our dedicated Learning Support team work closely with SEND students to identify their individual needs and to create tailored strategies that promote academic success. We understand that every child learns differently, and our approach is designed to foster a supportive environment that encourages growth and development.
We offer a range of resources and services aimed at enhancing the educational experience for students whose needs may be ‘additional to and different from’. We liaise closely with multiple outside agencies to support learners with SEND including Speech and Language Therapists, Phoenix Outreach and Educational Psychologists.
We believe that collaboration between parents and the school is vital for the success of our students. We encourage open communication and invite parents to engage with our Learning Support team. Together, we can ensure that each child receives the guidance and support they need to thrive academically and personally during their time at George Green's School.
At George Green's, we have a Resourced Provision dedicated to students who are autistic.Currently, there are 23 spaces allocated to the provision. Students registered to the ASC-RP will be educated in the mainstream and will receive additional learning support through the Resourced Provision.
All applications to ASC-RP are via LBTH admissions process.
Every child has the right to the best possible mental health
