Travelling to School Safely
We are excited to be working towards TfL's Travel for Life accreditation
Our students travel to school using a variety of methods. Our Summer 2023 survey of students showed that 23% travelled to school on foot or by bike, 64% travelled by public transport, and 13% arrived by car. It's great to hear the majority of our students are using active travel and public transport to get to and from school, and we want to encourage even more to do so. Did you know we have a bike shed on site?!
Travel for Life – Sustainable Travel: Active, Responsible, Safe
Travel for Life is an accreditation scheme for London schools and nurseries. TfL inspires young Londoners to travel to school sustainably, actively, responsibly and safely by championing walking, scooting and cycling. The goal is to increase active and sustainable travel options when travelling to and from school, reduce car use and improve safety.
The programme supports pupils' wellbeing, helps to reduce congestion at the school gates and improve road safety and air quality.
We want our students to travel as safely as possible. Some are new to independent travel, and some are more experienced. To help all of our students, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets have some excellent resources for parents and carers here.
